Activities & Skills

Next to each activity or skill is a link to a video showing the skill in motion. We encourage you to watch the video to make sure you are using the correct technique. Although some of these activities may be simple for some older players, it is still the foundation for a complete soccer player. To make each activity more difficult, try to increase your speed while doing the activity but continue to use good technique. Pushing yourself and making mistakes is ok as long as you have a good foundation to start. Find the line between comfortable and “out of control” and try to push that line each time you touch a ball.

The overall goal of this challenge is to help you become a better soccer player. Every player has a different level of ability and skill. Comparing yourself to another player may entice a bit of competition, but don’t just use that as a gauge for how hard to train. Focus on yourself and strive to get better each time you train. Learning to train on your own outside of soccer practice is a skill that will benefit you individually as well as your team. Good luck!

Videos have been provided for you to see each skill being performed. We would like to see all players practicing each skill regardless of their own perceived ability. The basic moves are just as important as the more advances ones. As you become better at each skill you will be able to move on to more challenging skills. We encourage all of you to communicate with your coaches about your progress and seek out help if you are struggling to understand a certain skill or exercise. We look forward to seeing the results and remember - HAVE FUN!

One note to mention - a lot of these videos use cones. If you do not have any cones at home, you can use any object to mark of distance or obstacle like shoes, bags, cups, or socks. Don’t let the little things keep you from succeeding!
