Member Update: COVID-19

By Justin Halbersma, 03/13/20, 8:19PM CDT

Brainerd Blast Family,

As the situation continues to develop around the world in regards to COVID-19, we wanted to send out a message to update you all on the impact upon current and future programming of Brainerd Blast Soccer.

ISD 181 has implemented measures under the guidance of state health officials to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and minimize its impact. There are no confirmed cases in the Brainerd Lakes Area and these measures are taken as safety precautions that the Brainerd Blast Board supports and understands. These measures do impact our programming currently in place and we also wanted to follow the lead of others to do our part to take preventative measures in a time when the situation continues to develop.

Current Programming Cancellations:

The final three weeks of Open Soccer, Middle School Futsal, and High School Futsal have been cancelled.
ISD 181 has shut down outside gatherings within their facilities and this affects our programming. However, we were in the process of deciding of doing this before the school district gave us notice, so we fully support the measures taken by the school district.

Future Programming Impacts

Summer Travel Soccer Parent Meeting and Team Meetings - Postponed
We are postponing these meetings and will have updates surrounding these meetings and the upcoming summer season on April 2nd after our Board Meeting on April 1st.

Referee Clinic - Postponed
We will have an update on this on April 2nd.

Icebreaker Tournament
The board will be making a decision on whether this event is cancelled or will be held at our board meeting on April 1st with an announcement going out on April 2nd.

We thank you for the ways you have all been a part of the soccer community here in the Brainerd Lakes Area and thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate an unknown and unfamiliar situation for all of us. Remember to take your own personal measures to keep you and your family healthy including frequent hand washing and avoiding contact with your eyes, nose, and mouth.

If there is a dramatic change to any future programming before our April 1st board meetings, we will send out an email with that pertinent information.
