Greetings to all Brainerd Lakes Area Soccer families!  It may be time to look ahead to a more time, and what could be more normal than competitive travel soccer season?  Rest assured that your Board of Directors and volunteers have been busy continuing to meet and work on all things Brainerd Soccer!

Registration

Registration is now open for the 2021 Brainerd Blast boys and girls soccer program!

We sincerely hope that you take this opportunity to register soon to allow for all of the various planning items that go into a successful program.  The best part, is that the cost to register now is ONLY $5!  There also will be no change in registration cost for the 2021 season.  The remainder of the registration cost can be set up on a payment plan next year.  Plus, if there are changes to be made to the program, the registration cost can be adjusted as well without the need for refunds.   Players will compete on teams of age appropriate players from age 8 to 18.  All registration with the club is paperless.  Please follow this link to register today:

No different than previous seasons, the earlier we can get a handle on the number of players and teams we will have for the season, the organization can complete tournament registration, player registrations with US Soccer and we will also have New Uniforms for 2021!

New Uniforms

Yes, all players will get new uniforms (jerseys and shorts) and there is a design committee in place working diligently right now on styles and designs.  The cost of the uniforms will be $30 for each player (paid later).  In addition, the club will be looking to raise additional funds to support the new uniforms from sponsorships.  If you or your business are interested in more information about sponsoring our uniforms or other club events, please contact our sponsorship coordinator Matt Dickinson at (218) 330-1288.

Tournament Plans

While final plans have not been set in concrete, the season will be similar to previous years, with ages 9-14 having four tournament opportunities, and ages 15- and up participating in three tournaments.  At this time, we are looking to play on the following weekends:

May 8-9 – Eagan, only up to age 14
June 18-20 – Minneapolis metro area location, all teams
June 25-27 – Duluth, all teams

At this time, not all possible tournaments have been scheduled, and the final tournament will be scheduled toward the end of May or early June.  We will send any and all tournament information as soon as registrations and commitments have occurred.

Tryouts & Team Creation

Teams will be set after we have a tryout date in March, which could be indoors or outdoors depending on weather and winter!  This process will ensure that all of the players are placed on an age and skill appropriate team to allow for the most successful growth for all of our young players.

Volunteering

Just like in previous years, we do have a multitude of volunteer opportunities during the year, and also have a volunteer deposit in the event you do not meet your volunteer requirements.  In previous years, each family needed to contribute 10 hours per child, with a family minimum of 16 hours.  As of today, the time commitment for the coming season has not been finalized, mainly due to an unknown amount of events that require heavy volunteer support (winter training and Ice Breaker tournament).  However, the volunteer hour deposit is not due at the initial registration, and will be part of the payment plan process.

Summer Training

Unfortunately, last year we needed to cancel the summer soccer training program, and the club is looking into hosting a similar training event in July for all ages of players in the Brainerd area.  As soon as any plans are finalized on this training opportunity, the information will be communicated and a separate registration will be created.

Other Tournaments

Plans are being made by your club to host our annual indoor Ice Breaker 3 on 3 soccer tournament the weekend of April 17 and 18.  With potential restrictions on building capacity, we may host the tournament on both days this year.  Traditionally, the club has also had players participate in an outdoor tournament held in April at Bemidji State University football stadium, and it is unclear when or if that tournament will occur this year.   There may also be an opportunity for your child to participate in the USA Cup soccer tournament held in July at the National Sports Center.  While this tournament is not part of the program, teams are free to register and be supported by the club if there is enough interest in forming a team.  Finally, the Club is also looking to build on last year’s end of July outdoor 6 vs 6 soccer tournament, with a chance to host a similar tournament at the outdoor Forestview Fields this summer.  More to come on all of these events!

Lastly, if you know someone in the Brainerd area that is interested in soccer, please forward this message to them to allow them to register as well.  We can help grow soccer in the Brainerd area by spreading the word, and getting more kids involved in the great sport of soccer!
