Futsal Leagues are a go for Middle School and High School Soccer!

The Brainerd Blast is very excited to be able to announce that we will begin Middle School and High School Futsal Leagues, beginning on Sunday, January 17, and continuing through the end of March. All games will be held at the Forestview Middle School fieldhouse.

We know being at home the past couple of months has not been normal, and here is your chance to get exercise, elevate your soccer game by getting in the gym and working on your soccer skills and game play!

Futsal, or indoor soccer, is known worldwide for its ability to help players improve their improvisation, creativity and technique. The game uses a low-bounce soccer ball and smaller teams.

With certain restrictions currently in place by the Minnesota Department of Health, pods of teams will be created at the start of the season, and players will not rotate to other teams during the season as has been the practice in previous years.

As such, REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT NOON on SATURDAY, JANUARY 16, in order to allow time for team formation to begin the following day.

All registered players will report to Forestview Middle School on Sunday, January 17, and receive your assigned teams and begin play.

The Brainerd Blast typically also offers an “open gym-style” soccer program for players in elementary school, but the current state guidance make it a challenge to hold that same program. We hope to be able to operate such a program yet this winter, and will communicate with you when this is possible.

DETAILS FOR ALL PLAYERS

Dates: January 17, 24 and 31; February 7, 14, 21 & 28; March 7, 14, 21, and 28

Where: Forestview Middle School

All players must wear masks at all times
Please bring your own water bottle with players name on the bottle (no sharing)
Players to set any bags/equipment six feet from other players and maintain proper social distancing when not playing
Parents are not allowed inside the facility
All players are to perform a personal health check prior to arriving (stay home if sick or have a temperature, or exhibit any other potential COVID-19 symptoms)
All players will check-in and use hand sanitizer when entering the facility
All players will leave the facility immediately when the session ends
All registration must be completed online
Teams will be constructed by attempting to create a balance of skill levels to allow each team to be competitive with each other.
There will be parent volunteer opportunities forthcoming to assist with this program
